DURHAM – Duke Director of Track & Field and Cross Country
Shawn Wilbourn, along with head cross country coach
Angela Reckart, have announced the addition of
Amina Maatoug to the Duke women's distance unit. Maatoug signed her NLI and will join the Blue Devils in the fall of 2022.
"We are thrilled to add Amina Maatoug as a Blue Devil next fall," said Reckart. "She has great range and will be an immediate impact to our middle distance group. Amina has also had great experience in cross country this fall, competing at the European Cross Country Championships. I look forward to having the opportunity to work with her."
Helming from the Netherlands, Maatoug is one of the premier Dutch middle distance runners and specializes in three events – the 400m, 800m and 1500m – where she holds personal bests of 57.94, 2:05.42 and 4:24.82, respectively. Earlier this month, she competed at the 2021 U20 European Cross Country Championships and placed 21st with a time of 14:04.
