HIGHPOINT, N.C. – Senior
Dana Baker's win in the women's javelin headlined a light day of competition for the Duke track and field team on day one of the VertKlasse Meeting.
Baker won her first event of the spring behind a season-best performance in the event. On her opening throw, Baker launched the javelin 48.06m (157-8 feet) to immediately catapult herself to the head of the 38-member field. No one else was able to surpass that distance through six attempts, giving the Olathe, Kan., native the win.
