DURHAM – The No. 10 Duke rowing team is back in action this weekend as the Blue Devils travel to Sarasota, Fla., for the Big Ten Invite Friday and Saturday at Nathan Benderson Park.
The Blue Devils are set to send four crews (Varsity Eight, Second Varsity Eight, Varsity Four, Second Varsity Four) to face ranked competition from around the country. Duke will aim for a return trip to Nathan Benderson Park later this spring, as the 2022 NCAA Championships are slated to be held in Sarasota from May 27-29.
RACING SCHEDULE
- Each of Duke's boats will compete in two races on Friday, beginning with a morning session led by the 2V4 at 8:30 a.m. ET.
- The V8 and 2V8 will race at 10:40 a.m. and 10:50 a.m., respectively, before the V4 closes out the morning slate at 12 p.m.
- Each crew will line up against Iowa, Minnesota and Notre Dame in the morning, while the afternoon set pits the Blue Devils against Michigan State, No. 17 Rutgers and No. 2 Stanford.
- The 2V4 kicks off the afternoon for Duke at 2:55 p.m., followed by the V8 at 4:45 p.m., 2V8 at 4:35 p.m. and V4 at 5:55 p.m.
- The Blue Devils once again take on Minnesota on Sunday in addition to No. 20 Indiana and No. 18 Tennessee, who they saw at the Oak Ridge Cardinal Invite in March.
- Race times for Duke on Sunday begin with the 2V4 at 9:50 a.m., followed by the V8 at 11:20 a.m., 2V8 at 11:30 a.m. and V4 to conclude the regatta at 12:20 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
- The Blue Devils were last in action on April 2 at the Big Ten/ACC Double Dual in Columbus, Ohio, where six boats took on No. 4 Michigan and No. 9 Ohio State.
- Duke's 2V8 highlighted the team's performance with a first-place result in both of its races. The ACC Crew of the Week started the day by outracing the Buckeyes by 2.6 seconds (7:00.6 to 7:03.2) in the morning session before pulling away from No. 4 Michigan by 7.9 ticks in the afternoon slate.
- The 3V8 also earned a win, finishing nearly three seconds faster than Michigan (7:22.1 to 7:25.0)
- The 2V8's ACC Crew of the Week honor marked Duke's third of the season, each by a different boat. The 3V8 received the award on March 9 following the Carolina Cup, while the V8 was recognized on March 23 after sweeping the Oak Ridge Cardinal Invite.
DUKE IN THE RANKINGS
- The sixth Pocock/CRCA poll of the spring season was released Wednesday with the Blue Devils ranked No. 10 nationally.
- Duke checks in among the top 10 teams in the nation for the first time since May 19, 2021, when the Blue Devils were also No. 10.
- Duke has held a spot in the top 20 in each of the last 27 released polls dating back to April of 2019.
- The Blue Devils are the highest ranked ACC team this week, leading No. 12 Virginia and No. 14 Syracuse.
- Duke was ranked for the entirety of last season, concluding the spring at No. 16.
Following the Big Ten Invite, Duke is set to co-host the Lake Wheeler Invitational with North Carolina for the third year. The Blue Devils have claimed the Pocock Cup each of the last two seasons and will compete alongside 15 teams at Lake Wheeler April 22-23.
