DURHAM – Duke track and field is back on the road this weekend as the Blue Devils head to Charlottesville, Va., for the Virginia Challenge.
This weekend's meet is the largest on the East Coast as more than 1,700 athletes will compete at Lannigan Field. The men's and women's hammer kick off the meet as the lone events scheduled for Thursday evening, while the bulk of competition is slated for April 22-23.

What to Watch/Last Time Out:
- Dana Baker is back in action after winning the women's javelin at the Meet of Champions this past week.
- She owns the ACC's fifth-best javelin mark of the season at 50.12m (164-5 feet).
- On the men's side, Scott Campbell, Luke Jackson and Chris Shanahan represent Duke in the javelin.
- The trio finished in the top four at the Meet of Champions, led by Shanahan in first, and rank in the top six in the ACC in the event – Jackson (third), Campbell (fourth), Shanahan (sixth).
- Erick Duffy shined in the men's pole vault and established a new program record with a clearance of 5.36m (17-7 feet). The graduate student's mark leads the ACC while also sitting eighth in the region.
- Halle Bieber gears up for the women's 100m (2:25 p.m., Fri.) and 200m (2:15 p.m., Sat.) dashes after winning both events at the Meet of Champions via all-conditions best times of 11.39 seconds and 23.22 seconds, respectively. The junior's times stand second and third in the conference.
- Junior Kelcie Simmons is also set to take the track for the 100m. She clocked an all-conditions best of 11.46 seconds to place third last weekend. Simmons' time ranks fourth in the ACC.
- Four Blue Devils set to compete in the women's (3:05 p.m.) and men's (3:25 p.m.) 400m dash currently own top-10 times in the ACC this season.
- On the women's side, Carly King leads the conference (53.76 seconds), followed by Megan McGinnis (53.94 seconds) in third and Jenna Crean (54.18 seconds) in sixth. Miles Mingo checks in at third in the men's rankings with a time of 46.56 seconds.
- Graduate student Nick Dahl hits the track for the men's 1500m invite Friday at 7:40 p.m.
- Last time Dahl competed in the event at the Duke Invite, he clocked the second-fastest time in Duke lore at 3:39.10, which ranks second in the ACC and seventh in the region.
- Classmate Michaela Reinhart will take part in the women's 5000m invite slated for 9:05 p.m. Last season at the ACC Outdoor Championships, Reinhart ran 15:55.38, which ranks second all-time at Duke.
- Junior Beau Allen leapt 2.13m (6-11.75 feet) during the Meet of Champions and picked up his fourth men's high jump win of the season and third consecutive. He'll look to make it four straight when he takes part in the high jump invite Saturday afternoon at 12:05 p.m.
- Three of the five Duke women set for the 100m hurdles own top-10 league times this season. Isabel Wakefield's time of 13.26 seconds leads the way in second, with Erin Marsh in sixth (13.69 seconds) and Chyler Turner in ninth at 13.76 seconds.
- Bieber, Abby Geiser, Maya Provencal and Kelcie Simmons are back for Saturday's women's 4x100m relay (1:15 p.m.) after a record-breaking performance last weekend. The quartet broke the Vert Stadium (High Point) record set in 2018 as they finished in 44.95 seconds to win the race.
- The men's 4x100m unit will consist of Gage Knight, Miles Mingo, Joseph Laster and Donovan Spearman. Mingo, Laster and Spearman were on the relay unit that clocked 40.89 seconds last weekend, which was good for second place at the meet and third all-time at Duke.
- Graduate student Alex Schwedt looks to pick up his second consecutive 200m dash win when he hits the track for the 2:35 p.m. race. Schwedt finished in 47.53 seconds to claim the top spot at the Meet of Champions.
- McGinnis, Crean, King and Abby Geiser comprise the women's 4x400m relay. Geiser and Crean were on last weekend's relay team that clocked 3:36.94, second in the ACC, and shattered the seven-year-old facility record.
- On the men's side, Duke's unit features Mingo, Alejandro Rodriguez, Knight and Schwedt.
- Mingo, Rodriguez and Schwedt competed on the relay team last weekend that won the event and ran their way into the Duke record books delivering the program's third-fastest event time of 3:10.12.

- Duke's women's team is currently ranked 23rd in the nation.
- The Blue Devils boast the top-ranked women's heptathlon group and the No. 2 men's javelin unit in the nation, according to the USTFCCA Event Squad rankings.
- Three Blue Devil women hold top-10 national marks – Isabel Wakefield (third) and Erin Marsh (seventh) in the heptathlon and Lauren Hoffman (fourth) in the 400m hurdles.
