Manker was Duke’s top shot putter in 2001, leading the Blue Devils with the top seven throws of the outdoor season. His best of 46-8 ¾ advanced him to the final of the Tar Heel Invite. Manker was No. 2 on the Duke indoor shot list, and also threw the discus during the outdoor season with a best of 124-1. Manker is still learning the discus, and has made great strides in the shot put, increasing his best with the 16-pound ball three feet from the 2001 indoor season.
